Group swim lessons are held Monday through Friday. Each weekly session includes five 45-minute classes and will take place rain or shine. Participants must be pool members to enroll. Registration is available through the CivicRec catalog. Families who register in April may take advantage of the Early Bird rate of $50 per weekly session. Beginning May 1, the regular rate of $75 per session will apply. Enrollment is limited and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Each group is staffed with approximately four instructors to ensure consistent instruction and engagement throughout the week.
Class Descriptions
Toddler: Introduction to the water; parents are encouraged to sit poolside Recommended Age: 1-3 Meeting Area: Tot Section (Zero Entry) Lesson Benchmarks: Participants will become comfortable in the water while working on blowing bubbles, kicking on their stomachs, moving their arms through the water, and attempting to float on their backs.
Beginner:Group swimming introduction Recommended Age: 3-6 Meeting Area: Intermediate Section Lesson Benchmarks: Swimmers will focus on building confidence in the water, swimming with their faces submerged, swimming with arms out of the water, and practicing floating and kicking on their backs.
Swim I:Focus on independent swimming Recommended Age: 5-8 Meeting Area: Island Section Lesson Benchmarks: Students will continue developing confidence and independence in the water, swim with faces submerged and arms out of the water, swim to the island without stopping, begin learning backstroke, improve deep-water treading skills, and be introduced to basic diving. Swim II:Improvement of fundamental skills Recommended Age: 5-10 Meeting Area: Far End (Lap Lane Section) Lesson Benchmarks: Swimmers will build confidence in independent deep-water swimming, learn proper freestyle breathing technique, complete a full lap without stopping, refine backstroke skills, and further develop diving techniques.
Note: Instructors may recommend adjusting your child’s level during or after the first day of class to ensure the best fit. If a change is suggested, they will speak with you directly before making any adjustments.
All lessons are held Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM–9:45 AM. All four levels are offered during each session.
